In the Greenhouse: Plant Spotlight: Begonias!

Our greenhouses are stocked with annuals for all-season color. We divide annuals into the shade greenhouse and the full sun greenhouse, so you can find the plants that will thrive in a sunny garden or on a shady covered porch. You can also bring these beauties indoors as house plants for the winter.

Begonias perform well in both sun and shade. Waterfalls Encanto® Orange and Pink produce cascading flowers perfect for containers and baskets.

Dragon Wing® Pink combines glossy foliage with abundant blooms and excellent heat tolerance, making it one of the easiest begonias to grow.

The Nonstop® x tuberhybrida series is known for its large, rose-like blooms. The flowers of the Nonstop® are also edible! (in moderation--see below.)

Use snipped petals as a garnish in salads and sandwiches or dip whole petals in flavoured yogurt and serve as an appetizer.    Only tuberous begonia petals are edible. The petals contain oxalic acid and therefore should only be eaten in moderation and should not be consumed by individuals suffering from gout, kidney stones or rheumatism."
