April 2020 Covid19 Update

This is a time of unprecedented fear, grief, and uncertainty. We miss friends. We miss family. We miss hugs! But in these very strange and troubled times, we know that gardening can be soothing, reassuring, and healing. Being outside and in the sun with our hands in the dirt can be a balm for anger and an antidote to anxiety.

Many of you are planting trees as a sign of hope for tomorrow, and I have teared up talking to some of you about it! The gardening community of the Hudson Valley is kind, generous, and optimistic. We are so grateful to our clients and customers! And we want to help.

We are open everyday, but because of Covid19 related staffing issues,

please call first. (845) 658-9007

  • We will do curbside pick-up.

  • We will do a video chat so you can see what’s in the nursery.

  • You can come shopping here and maintain social distancing.

  • We are proceeding with landscaping and spring cleanups where and when we can provide safe conditions for our crew.

If you are looking for a particular type of tree, we can special order many different varieties. And if you have a spot in mind, but don’t know what kind of tree would thrive in those conditions, we can help you pick one. Many clients are also understandably interested in fruit trees, so we will be bringing in many varies. If you have a special variety you are interested in or have questions about where you could plant a fruit tree for the best results, please feel free to call or stop by.

A garden may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but one small act of many people can add up to a big overall effect. If you are planting your own Covid19 Victory Garden, we’ll have herbs and other edibles in stock as usual in May. We will also have fruiting shrubs like blueberry, which you can plant in rows or easily add to your ornamental garden. Herbs have already arrived and are stocked in the greenhouse. Seed packets of course have also been in high demand. We carry the Hudson Valley Seed Co. seeds, which are heirloom and open-pollinated garden seeds.

At Victoria Gardens, we all hope that you and your family weather this crisis with as little pain and loss as possible. We look forward to a time in the future when we are past this and hugs are allowed again! In the meantime, please reach out with any questions or special orders.

Stay Calm & Garden On.
